The best pick-me-up ever

Last week kind of sucked, for no particular reason. By Thursday, I was feeling stressed and depressed, and just wanted to crawl into a hole to hibernate for a while. Then on Friday I received a small package. It was an unexpected gift from Terra Nova Nurseries.

Wow. What excitement. I opened it as carefully yet quickly as I could, peeling back the layers of packing to discover 18 delightful plants huddled together in a little tray. Talk about a pick-me-up!

Included were:

Agave virginica ‘Spot’
Athyrium ‘Burgandy Lace’
Begonia ‘Benitochiba’
Camanula ‘Pink Octopus’ (shown below)

Coreopsis ‘Autumn Blush’
Coreopsis ‘Pinwheel’
Coreopsis ‘Snowberry’ (shown below)

Corydalis ‘Berry Exciting’
Corydalis ‘Canary Feathers’
Echinacea ‘Raspberry Tart’
Heuchera ‘Ginger Ale’
Heuchera ‘Midnight Rose’
Mukdenia ‘Crimson Fans’
Pulmonaria ‘Moonshine’
Sanicula caerulescens
Scabiosa ‘Ultra Violet’
Verbascum ‘Honey Dijon’
and
Zantedeschia ‘Edge of Night’ (shown below)

Thanks, Terra Nova, for making my day.

  3. Watch that campanula. If it were me, I’d pot it up in a large weather-resistant pot and watch it for several seasons of growth before putting it anywhere in the ground.

Why? Because I have a bed a near cousin to that plant has totally run amok in, which needs to be rehabilitated and the monster removed.

Here is paghat’s page on the variety I have:

    IMHO – It’s a thug.

With your variety, I suspect the other issue I have with this plant will be lessened… after it flowers, the flowers hang around on the plant, all tan and withered and pathetic looking. But that’s mild, compared to the romping spreading habit. OY!

  5. Wow, that’s a great bunch of plants.

You will certainly have to keep us posted on how the Mukdenia rossii ‘Crimson Fans’ does in your garden.

I’d never heard of that one before, and it claims hardiness in my zone, hey!

  7. OMG, that Camanula is exquisite! I am going to see if they will ship to me. I need a pick me up too and that looks perfect.
