What a fantastic outcome from a strike!!
Our council has recently started a trial of food composting and it's not too bad so far. Of course it's winter when they've started it so a two week old normal refuse bin isn't really stinky (Oh how we learn to wash meat wrappings properly though before we put them out) - but a weekly food collection of leftovers is great. I already had two compost bins and put some leftovers out for the birds but the stuff even the cats won't eat now goes into a green box in the kitchen, and put out once a week.
