Isn’t that the plant with the abnormal discharge?

May 1, 2006 by Andrea Bellamy 5 Comments

Like many gardeners, I spend a lot of time advising friends who are new to gardening. And sometimes the conversations turn hysterical. Like the time I was over at a friend’s new apartment, and she was wondering what to plant on her large balcony. “Think vertical,” I suggested. “You could plant a climbing vine to disguise that drainpipe, for example.”

“That’s a great idea,” she exclaimed. “I’d love grow a pot of chlamydia!”

I’ve often thought that some Latin names sound like STDs!

    Really, though.

Who doesn’t want a pot full of chlamydia????

    It’s the perfect gift.

And she’s actually in luck, they are just coming out with some nice clematis varieties specifically for patio pots. (Raymond Evison Patio Clematis Collection)

Okay, that’s a good one. My recent fave is being asked by someone if the bees on her flowers might hurt them. Kinda makes you reassess what’s common knowledge in the garden and what’s not.
