Pretty pretty

I mentioned yesterday that I’m a sucker for Proven Winner’s Fall Magic line. And this is why. They make it dead simple to create gorgeous foliage and colour contrast.

I’m currently loving the Fall Magic-dominant combination in my front raised bed. Shown are Euphorbia ‘Diamond Frost’ and Heuchera ‘Amythest Mist’, but the bed also contains Osteospermum ‘Vanilla Symphony’, and Sedum ‘Autumn Joy.’ Euphorbia ‘Diamond Frost’ has delicate white flowers that contrast beautifully with the rich plum of the heucheras. My only wish is that it was hardy. It’s Zone 10 so I expect to lose it come winter. When I bought it, I told myself I’d treat it as an annual – I just didn’t know how hard I’d fall for it!

Can you take cuttings from the euphorbia?

Ah, yes, I suppose I could. Or dig them up and keep them in my mom’s greenhouse over the winter. Good plan.

BTW, I’ve tried overwintering Euphorbia ‘Diamond Frost’ – one of the five plants I stuck in my mom’s greenhouse lived, but it was pretty pathetic looking. Better to buy new every year!
