Victoria in bloom

Visited my old stomping grounds last weekend, and I didn’t go to any gardens! At least not of the official variety. But I loved this abandoned lot. It’s not the Victoria you see in the tourist brochures, but I like this better.

I wonder if this is the work of guerilla gardeners. Any Victoria guerillas want to fess up?

Oh my gosh – Nothing more beautiful than wildflowers and ruins, says the romantic. Try Peloponnesia in the spring, around Olympia, though this in its own way is as fine as Hera’s temple.
    Thank you

A few years ago here in Portland, the city opted to sow wildflower seeds in areas alongside the freeways and streets that they were required to maintain. I love it so much more than grass. A riot of bloom!

If that picture is anywhere near Victoria Harbour it may be the work of my great grandfather! My Grandmother told me that he spread some red poppy seeds along the railway tracks around the 1940’s? They lived nearby and she watched them grow and spread all over the place!
